| The range of Alba trolling
and stand up rods are built on "S" glass or "E"
glass composite blanks manufactured in UK. Blanks as standard
are black or white. The rods detailed below are intended as
a guide due to the variety of options available, guide choice,
butt choice, rod length, grip length, rod livery etc. |
| ALBA POWERSTICKS: |
 |
|
First developed in 1990 the
Powersticks were intended for use against heavyweight wreck conger.
Since then they have
been used for most heavyweight UK species, common skate, halibut,
shark and an extensive variety of bluewater species
from large shark to marlin and tuna. The IGFA 50lb line class porbeagle
world record, a 414lb fish, was landed on a 50lb version
and tens of dozens of heavy common skate have fell foul of the immense
lifting power. The late Vic Sampson used a
50lb POWERSTICK to tag and release a great white estimated
at 800lb off S. Australia.
POWERSTICKS can be built using roller guides or FUJI CWDBSG SIC
guides but as standard are built using FUJI BLRLG H.D. guides. The
rods are 6ft in length with an extended foregrip and heavy duty
carbon reel seat set low. The blank has a mid to tip action with
a massive reserve of lifting power in the lower
half. Built on "S" glass composite blanks they remain,
pound for pound probably the most powerful stand-up style rod manufactured
in UK and are ideally suited to deep dropping.
Livery is teal blue underwrap with double overwraps in black with
gold trim bands. As a result of guide positioning only a short butt
wind can be applied to these rods. Available in 20 / 30 /50lb IGFA
line ratings.
POWERSTICKS also lend themselves to being built as two
piece rods with a two piece reel seat and the length can either
be maintained at 6ft or increased to a more traditional 7ft - 7ft
4inch depending on your preference. |

STAND UP RODS |
|
|
|
|
The range of stand-up rods are available in
lengths to suit the angler from 5ft 6inch to 6ft. All built on tip
action "S" glass
composite blanks. Available in a variety of line classes to suit most
needs. A 5ft 6inch version of the 80-130lb rod, when
tested, was found capable of exerting a pressure of 67lbs.
Please note that no rod can actually be a 30/50 or 50/80 etc, they
are described as such because they are capable of taking lines within
the two ranges but in the case of Alba Rods they are best suited to
lines of the lower class in each category to maintain balanced tackle.
A 30/50 will handle lines within those ranges but is ideal when set
up and balanced with 30lb tackle.
Rods detailed below feature silver components but options are available
for black / black-gold / black-blue. All rods have short, straight
alloy butts however short curved butts can be used if required. All
rods are underwrapped and double overwrapped in black & gold or
black & silver depending on component colour. This can be varied
to suit the clients choice. Only short butt winds available due to
guide positioning and foregrip length. A serious
selection of stand-up rods capable of just about any sporting fish
that swims. |

note, the split diamond butt wind takes a fair amount of time and
is not offered as standard.

BLUEWATER TROLLING RODS |
|
|
|
|
| The entire range is built on
powerful, "E" glass / composite blanks manufactured to
order in UK specifically for Alba Rods.
The rods detailed below are built using standard silver
colour components but the option exists for black & gold black
& blue or all gold. Alternate guides can be used such as Aftco
ball bearing or Everol. The butts quoted are straight however bent
butts can be used if requested. . Grips are heavy duty duplon .
(contact for quote on alternates)
The blanks used are mid to tip action with
a massive reserve of power in the lower sections to subdue the hardest
fighting game fish. Considerable testing has been undertaken when
developing these blanks which have stood the test
of time. In the early 1990`s the late Vic Sampson used
a special edition 130lb rod to land one of the largest, legally
caught fish ever on rod and line, a 1,704 lb great white. The power
in these blanks allowed Vic to have the monster shark at the boat
in under 30 mins. All rods feature a chevron or diamond butt wind
and rod livery is entirely at your discretion. |
